The Hannoveraner Verband is an alliance of breeders and associated with the German National Equestrian Federation (FN). It carries the original studbook of the Hanoverian breed. The breeders are organized in local horse breeders clubs. The individual horse breeders clubs in turn are organized in regional breeding clubs with the Hannoveraner Verband as umbrella organisation. There are the regional breeding clubs of Braunschweig, Hanover, Hessen/Southern Germany, Lüneburg, Osnabrück/Emsland, East Frisia/Oldenburg, Stade and International. The regional breeding clubs serve as center position between the Verband and the horse breeders clubs of their district. Most of the foreign breeders are organized in the Hanoverian subsidiaries of their home country.

For a few years now the Hanoverian a ssociation has for - mulated guidelines for planning and realizing strategic goals. These guidelines describe the course of a decision process and, at the same time, they serve as a foundation for a discussion on how to realize definite measures. The international and national expansion of the association was prepared in accordance with this method.

The best way to buy a Hanoverian is at the Verden auctions. Verden auctions are success stories: The first event was held in 1949 – back then as well as today with the aim to support the breeders in selling their horses. First, two Elite riding horse auctions were held per year, but the system constantly improved. Today, the auction year includes nine sales events: The Verden Auction in January, March, May, July and November Auction complement the sales offer for selected riding horses and is supplemented by a Foal and Broodmare Auction. Another riding horse auction is held in the Verband-owned Horse Centre in Alsfeld, the first time in 2009. Highlight of the breeding and sales happenings are the Stallion Licensing and Stallion Sales in October.
